Karlad Lake

Wayanad's second-largest freshwater lake, at Thariode near Banasura Sagar, home to the Wayanad Adventure Camp.

Karlad Lake, at Thariode, is the second-largest freshwater lake in Wayanad and the third-largest in Kerala. It lies about 3 km from Banasura Sagar Dam, surrounded by tall trees and green hills.

The District Tourism Promotion Council runs the Wayanad Adventure Camp here. Its 250-metre zipline over the lake is the main draw, along with boating, kayaking, rock climbing, zorbing and bamboo rafting. Tents and cottages are available for overnight stays, and the camp also hosts corporate groups.

A handicrafts and spices shop at the lake sells local products. Banasura Sagar Dam, Pookode Lake and Soochipara Waterfalls are all within easy reach.
